Anglesea Hotel has a long history in hospitality since its original design of 1903 when it was named the Anglesea River Hotel and was a Cobb & Co stopping point to the modern establishment it is now since it was upgraded in 1995.
Today’s proprietors, business partners Sam Benjamin and Janine Pitts have managed to retain the old hotels welcoming ambience.
Delicious meals can be enjoyed in the restaurant, al fresco or in the bar as all areas serve up well priced, a’la carte meals augmented by daily specials. The menu features something for everyone with fresh seafood, kangaroo, homemade pasta dishes and many Aussie favourites on offer and is complemented by a constantly updated wine list. The selection of steaks are delicious and by popular choice have become the restaurants signature dish.
Throughout summer and school holidays, family nights are a constant feature at the hotel with entertainment slanted toward children, but any time of the year parents can relax over dinner while the kids make the most of the children’s playground attached to the restaurant.
The hotel also has a large drive in bottle/convenience shop, TAB facility, an open fire in the bar for winter months and a function room that can cater for small intimate gatherings or larger more formal events. It remains the heart of the village, well patronized by both locals and visitors and with its close proximity to the beach makes the Anglesea Hotel a must see on your next trip down the coast.
